Can you walk us through your creative process? How do you begin a piece, and how do you know it’s complete?

My paintings begin with emotion. Subtle or loud, I express how I am feeing in the present moment with color, gesture, a kind of scribbling of the heart. This releases pent up creative flow of spirit through my body. I feel colors, taste colors, hear their vibrations in my soul. 

In Becoming Butterfly, painting over a period of two to three years, seasonal changes in my garden, moods, family, all manner of life filters into the flow of emotions.  Color energies in the body relate to earth and sky. If something is out of balance, I sense it, yet may not have words to express what it is.  This is where expressionist color and my signature drawing style take over, in a kind of automatic writing. Letting creative spirit flow through me is a transformative process.  I hope you can feel this in my work.
